Finding the Heart of it All/The Greens of Spring
April 27, 2014
I have a sense of tremendous appreciation for what the warmth of spring brings! There is an awakening of the earth, and we see the beauty of the first flowering trees - PINK magnolias and crab apples and cherry blossoms - Oh my! All are inspiring me, the flower nut that I am! The color looks fresh and feminine.
While pink is in the air, I received this incredible dress and shoes in my shop from a lovely lady who is spring cleaning. "It 's time to pass it on!" I have it on consignment, and it is indeed a RARE FIND!
This vintage dress (from the 60's) is spectacular; all beautifully handmade in Providence, RI with rose colored lace and black diamond crystals, a figure flattering shape that is very much in vogue today, and includes a tapered hem (short to longer in the back). There are stylish shoes to match, and all in mint condition. The dress came with a gorgeous pink tulle crinoline which makes a lovely skirt on its own.
Please inquire with me for prices if you would like to purchase, as it is not yet up on my website!
This is why I love doing what I'm doing...this reminds me of the special pieces that can only be made by hand, and reassures me that I'm on the right mission: To revive the art of creating by hand, here in America; HANDMADE and LOCALMADE.
I hope to inspire many others to create in the same way as this inspire me, so as not to lose these special skills.
